Abstract
Medicinal Plants Are The Nature??S Gift, Serve As Potential Sources Of Bioactive Compounds And Lead Compounds In Drug Development. Momordica Foetida Commonly Known As ??Yamora Misa?? Or ??Yekura Hareg??, Used To Treat Various Diseases. The Present Study Focused On Isolation Of Chemical Constituents, Evaluation Of Biological Activities And Molecular Docking Studies Of M.Foetida. Here This, Aerial Of M. Foetida (500g) Were Successively Extracted Using N-Hexane, Chcl3, Chcl3/Meoh (1:1) And Meoh, Yielded 2 G (0.4 %), 4.5 G (0.9 %), 12.47 G (2.49 %) And 32.5 G (6.5 %), Respectively. Silica Gel Column Chromatography Of The Chcl3/Meoh (1:1) And Meoh Crude Extract Afforded Five Compounds, Including Colossolactone A Derivatives (99), Myristic Acid (100), Pentan-1-Ol (101), Bis (3-Hydroxy-3-Methylbutan-2-Yl) Phthalate (102) And Heptane (103). The Structures Of Compounds Were Characterized Using Spectroscopic Methods (1h-Nmr, 13c-Nmr And Dept-135). Additionally, The Gc-Ms Analysis Of A Fraction Showed That Phenol, 2, 4-Bis (1, 1-Dimethylethyl) (11.18%) As The Principal Component. The In-Vitro Antibacterial Activity Was Evaluated Using Disc Diffusion Method Against S. Aureus, S. Pyogens, P. Aeruginosa And E. Coli. The Antibacterial Result Revealed Promising Inhibition Zone For Meoh Extract (9.00??0.5, At 150 Mg/Ml) And Pentan-1-Ol (101) (11.5??00 Mm, At 10mg/Ml) Against E. Coli And S.Pyogens Compared To Standard Antibiotic Ampicillin. In-Vitro Antifungal Activity Was Evaluated Using Broth Dilution Method Against C. Albicans, Penicillium. Species, T. Mentagrophytes And A. Niger. Compound 101 Showed Promising Antifungal Activity With Mic Value Of 1.25 And 5mg Against T. Mentagrophytes And P. Species, Respectively. The Extracts And Compounds Were Also Assessed For Their Radical Scavenging Activity Using Dpph Assay. Promising Percent Rsa Were Observed With N-Hexane (61.538%, Ic50:12.53), Meoh Extract (61.538%, Ic50:7.98) And Compounds 99 And 100 Were (71.123 And 72.784%, With Ic50: 0.46 And 0.85 Respectively). Molecular Docking Study Was Done Using Autodock Vina 4.2 And It Was Found That Compound 99 Shows The Best Scoring Pose (-9.6, -8.1, -11.1 And -8.0 Kcal/Mole)Against Selected Protein Targets. Based On This Study, It Can Be Concluded That The Aerial Parts Of M. Foetida Has Bioactive Compounds With The Potential To Treat Bacterial And Fungal Infections And Also Used As An Antioxidant
