Abstract

Currently, a known multi-carrier modulation technique which used in 4G wireless com munication technology is Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing. It has severaladvantages like ease of implementation, immunity to interference, high data rate. How ever, the rising users demand on wireless communication resulted needs for advance ment of wireless communication system. The upcoming wireless communication tech nology is needed to be a system with low latency, very fast data rates, best quality ofservice and greater channel capacity. The present OFDM transmission not fulfil therequirements of 5G wireless communication system because of major drawbacks like outof band radiation and usage of cyclic prefix. To overcome the challenges of OFDMdifferent modulation schemes like Filter Bank Multi-carrier with offset-Quadrature Amplitude Modulation, Filter Bank Multi-carrier with Quadrature-Amplitude Modula tion, Universal Filter Multi-carrier, Filtered-OFDM, and Weighted Overlap and Added OFDM are proposed. In this study, the FBMC with QAM using Hermite prototype filteris proposed to overcome drawbacks of FBMC with QAM using PHYDYAS prototype fil ter. The performance of each multi-carrier techniques are analyzed based on powerspectral density, computational complexity, bit error rate, spectral efficiency and signalto interference ratio. Simulation result shows that the power spectral density of FBMCwith QAM using Hermite filter resulted 4.7dB reduction of out of band emission com pared to FBMC with QAM using PHYDYAS filter. The bit error rate and the signalto interference ratio of the proposed system outperform than others.
