Abstract

The Main Purpose Of This Study Was To Investigate The Optimum Utilization Of The Scientific Methodin Physics Instruction At Secondary School In Amigna Woreda, Arsi Zone Of Oromia Regional State.To Attain This Objective, Descriptive Survey Research Method Was Employed. The Subjects Of Thestudy Were 128 (72 Male And 56 Female Students) And 8 Physics Teachers. Stratified Sampling Followed By Simple Random Sampling (Lottery Method) Technique Was Employed To Select The Sample Students, Purposive Sampling Technique Was Used To Select The Schools And Availability Sampling Method Was Employed For Physics Subject Teachers. To Gather The Necessary Data, Questionnaire,Observation And Document (Textbook) Analysis Was Used. The Gathered Information Was Analyzed Using Both Quantitative And Qualitative Methods. The Findings Of The Study Indicate That 62.5% Ofthe Secondary School Teachers Rarely And Never Use Smt As Classroom Instruction. But 62.5% Ofthem Were Interested In The Method And 71% Of The Students Were Interested In Smt. The Weighted Mean Value Of Teachers And Students For Students Textbook Checklist 1.62(54.3%) And 1.69(56.3%)Respectively Indicated That The Students Textbook Content Were Appropriate For The Application Ofsmt As Classroom Instruction. Findings From The Study Suggest That Classroom Interaction Seemedto Be Mostly Teacher-Centered And Tended Not To Support Inquiry-Based Teaching And Learning Which Is Noted For Promoting Conceptual Change And Enhance Performance.
