Abstract
As need of energy demand increseases, there will be diminishing of natural gasses, fossil fuels and coals. Using renewable energy beside those energy mentioned above reduces the problem related with energy sources and also it can reduce the global warming caused due to natural gassess.This work can be considered with the objective of supplying drinking water to the society living in the rural area of Ada Barga Wereda (Bishoftu). Garbicha kebele community is one of this wereda and has a serious problem in supplying drinking water. Their water pumping system includes a manually powered pump (most of them), a generator driven pump, all these mechanisms have many problems such as: (energy consumption), require high maintenance (fuel consumption) and diesel generator pump has environmental impacts.MATLABR2015a was used for modeling and simulation of Buck converter, Inverter, PV Cell, PV Array and HOMER software was used for PV water pumping economic cost analysis.IGBT device was used for switching of converters and PWM was used for controlling the output voltages of the converters. The designed system is capable of providing 85m3per day for850 people in Garbicha Kebele with average daily water consumption of 100 liters per household at a total head of 76m.The outcome of the study will serve the community by supplying water and make the communities familiar with solar technologies.
