Abstract
The purpose of this study was to assess the current human resource planning, recruitment and selection in Education office of Adama City Administration. A descriptive survey research method was employed in order to attain the purpose simple random sampling and availability sampling techniques were utilized to select sample from the study site .Accordingly, 59 teachers and 46 school leaders were selected schools found in Adama city. The data were collected through questionnaire and interview .The analysis of quantitative data was made by descriptive statistics like frequency counts, percentage and mean. The result of the study revealed that the loose practice of HRP the slow recruitment and selection process may lead candidates to shift to other organization need some types labor .Moreover, the study shows that the environmental scanning conducted by education office hadn’t been done in scientific and appropriate manner. Therefore it was recommended that the Adama City Administration Education Office should create suitable working conditions for recruitment and selection and undertake forecasting human resource supply and demand techniques.
