Abstract

Emerging Nations Like Ethiopia Are Experiencing Fast Urbanization Due To Rural-To-Urban Migration, An Increase In The Demand For Housing And Jobs, And Population Expansion In Urban Areas. However, Neighboring Rural "Peri-Urban" Areas Are Susceptible To Unanticipated Changes Since There Was No Systematic Plan To Address The Needs Of Urbanization. Despite The Limited Research On Socio-Economic And Policy Matters In Peri Urban Areas, There Has Also Been A Lack Of Attention Given To Spatial Changes In Adama, Either As A Result; The Goal Of This Study Was To Investigate The Nature, Origins, And Dynamics Of Spatial Modifications Occurring In Peri-Urban Transitional Zones. The Case Study Approach Was Employed In This Study To Help It Attain Its Known Goal And Also Based On The Length Of The In-Depth Interview And The Research Budget This Study Takes 51 Households From The Case Region, Or 5% Of All Households, Are Chosen For Data Collection From The Case Area With Stratified Random Sampling Strategy. The Study Found Out Those Spatial Transformations In The Settlements Happens Due To Multiple Factors Such As ??Selling?? Land Informally For Economic Improvement And Fearing Expropriation By Government Program, And Land Fragmentation Due To Densification. These Factors Transform Farm Land And Rural Settlement In To Informal Residential Areas. As A Result Almost All Rural Land Holdings Experience Fragmentation And Land Use Change. The Analysis Makes Some Potential Suggestions As Well For Future Planning. Therefore, This Study May Advise Local Governments, Community Leaders, And Urban Planners To Pursue The Following Actions In Order To Enhance Infrastructure And Service Supply And To Legalize Informal Economic Activity. Use A Participative Approach To Planning Intervention. Planning Should Also Take Into Account The Community's Vernacular Building Tradition, Context Of The Site, And Foundation Of Subsistence.
