This study examines the effect of project management practices on the efficiency of road projects implemented by the Addis Ababa City Road Authority. The study focuses on seven core project management practices: Planning, Risk Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Resource Allocation, Cost Management, Communication, and Stakeholder Engagement. Project efficiency is measured using three outcome indicators: Timely Completion, Budget Adherence, and Quality Standards. A quantitative approach was used. Data were collected from 200 respondents using a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression were applied to analyze the data. The findings revealed that all seven project management practices have a positive and statistically significant effect on project efficiency. Regression results showed that Risk Management increased on-time completion by 41% (β = 0.41, p < 0.05) and Planning by 32% (β = 0.32, p < 0.05). Cost Management improved budget adherence by 45% (β = 0.45, p < 0.01). Monitoring and Evaluation raised quality standards by 48% (β = 0.48, p < 0.01). The study concludes that integrated and consistently applied project management practices are vital for improving road project outcomes in Addis Ababa. The findings emphasize the need for AACRA and its stakeholders to institutionalize structured planning, proactive risk management, and continuous performance monitoring to mitigate delays, control costs, and ensure quality. Based on the findings, the study recommends that AACRA enhance capacity-building programs targeting project planning and evaluation, adopt digital project management tools to support real-time monitoring, and establish formal stakeholder engagement frameworks to ensure inclusive decision-making. These measures would contribute to more efficient and sustainable delivery of urban road infrastructure projects in Addis Ababa.en_US
