Abstract
Data Link layer is a layer that is responsible for controlling the flow control, error detection and error correction. There are protocols that are used for implementing Data Link layer; one of the most efficient protocols is Selective Repeat protocol by its ability of re-transmit only the damaged frame in case of transmission error. The receiver sends positive or negative acknowledgment to show whether the frame is received correctly or damaged. When the sender receives the acknowledgement the sender will send new frames or it will re-transmit the damaged frames based on the acknowledgment. Sending acknowledgment for each frame is tedious work and also it consumes bandwidth as well as time. This study intended to minimize the individual acknowledgment process to cumulative acknowledgment at transport layer. Our designed optimized protocol use cumulative acknowledgment between the sender and the receiver to make the protocol more efficient acknowledgment, time and bandwidth usage to do this we design the protocol on transport layer with packet.
