dc.description.abstractThis study is concerned with analysis of Mother Tongue interference into learning EFL orthography and pronunciation, a case of Batu Secondary School. It mainly assesses MT interference of elements, causes and agents. So, to accomplish this purpose, the researcher first, employed a systematic random sampling technique was operated on the total of 2027, grade nine and ten students from whom, every tenth student was picked to get around a sample size of 203 students out of the total population. Besides, 10 English language teachers at the target school were included based on a non probability sampling technique. Then, the researcher triangulated primary data from actual class observations, in depth interviews and questionnaires. The questionnaires were distributed to the 213 sample population and the data collected was quantified into percentiles and tabularized. Besides, qualitative data were executed from the students’ orthographic contents of written out activities provided, test papers, assignments in their exercise books, the text books and the teachers’ guide analysis. After then, simple statistical packages for social science tools were applied to describe, narrate and analyze the end results.en_US
