Study On Labour Productivity Improvements Using Lean Construction Principles In Public Residential Building Construction Projects In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Abstract

Labor Productivity In Public Building Construction Projects In Ethiopia Is A Crucial Factor For Project Success, Yet It Often Falls Short Of Optimal Levels. This Research Mainly Aims Is To Access Labour Productivity Improvements Techniques Through Lean Construction Principles In Public Residential Building Construction Projects In Ethiopia For The Case Addis Ababa. For This Study Both Qualitative And Quantitative Research Methods Were Used. The Primary And Secondary Data Were Collected Mainly By Questionnaire, Researcher Observation And Interview. The Study Result Indicated That Labour Productivity Management At Building Construction Projects Is Low. Actually, A Lot Of Contractors Are Inexperienced In Assessing Labor Productivity On Their Projects Because They Are, Don't Such Aware The Advantages, Or Think It's Hard To Do. Key Factors Influencing Labor Productivity At Construction Sites Include Material Shortages, Insufficient Follow-Up, Work Variations, And Other Related Issues. Hence, Contractors Are Recommended Implement Lean Construction Principles And Tools To Improve Labour Productivity. The Result Indicated Above 40% Labour Productivity Improves By Implementing The Combination Of Conventional And Lean Construction Tools Like; Cross-Functional Teams, 5s, Just-In-Time Delivery, Pdca, Identify And Eliminate Any Non-Value-Added Activities, Diminish Work Cycle Time, Determine Crew Size Of The Workers And Some Conventional Labour Productivity Improvement Techniques. Those Techniques Are A Better Labour Productivity Improvement Strategies That Shall Implemented At Construction Site In Addis Ababa.
