Abstract
Nutrients Mainly Phosphorus Exist With Water Excessively Uncontrollable, Leads To Eutrophication Problem, Which Has An Adverse Impact On The Social, Economical, And Ecological Values Of Water Bodies. Hence, Mitigation Technology Like Adsorption Is Highly Recommended For Application. In This Study, Mgo Modified Corncob Bio Char Adsorbent Was Prepared For The Adsorption Removal Of Phosphate From Wastewater. Hence, The Aim Of This Work Was Synthesis And Characterization Of Mgo Loaded Corncob Bio Char Adsorbent For The Removal Of Phosphate Ion From Wastewater. Ftir, Tga, Xrd, And Bet Were Used To Characterize The Specific Functional Groups, Thermal Stability, Crystalline Structure, And Specific Surface Area Of The Synthesized Adsorbent. The Bet Specific Surface Area Of Mgo Loaded Corncob Bio Char Before And After Adsorption Were Determined To Be 26.94 M2/G And 19.32 M2/G Respectively. Moreover, The Optimization Effects Of Adsorption Parameters Namely Ph, Adsorbent Dose, Initial Phosphate Concentration And Contact Time Have Been Carried Out. The Adsorption Process Of Mgo-Cb For Phosphate Proceeded Relatively Fast In The First 50 Minute And Basically Tended To Equilibrium Around 60 Minute. The Result Was Confirmed That 89 % Of Phosphate Ion Was Removed From Wastewater At Optimum 60 Minute, 0.5 G Adsorbent Dose, The Ph Level Of 9, And 5 Mg/L Of Initial Phosphate Concentration. Furthermore, The Adsorption Models Like Equilibrium Isotherm, And Kinetics Were Conducted. The Adsorption Isotherm Data Were Best Fitted To The Langmuir (R2= 0.98) With A Maximum Adsorption Capacity Of 26.12 Mg/G ImpliedThat The Adsorption Process Was Dominated By Chemisorption. In Addition, The Result Of The Kinetic Model Proved That Pseudo-Second-Order Provided A Good Description Of The Experimental Data With A Maximum R2Of 0.97. The Coexisting Ions Such As No3-And So42- Were Observed Significantly Impacted Phosphate Adsorption. The Removal Efficiency Of 69.29 % Of Phosphate Ion Was Found After Five Cycles Of The Adsorption/Desorption Cycles, Which Indicated Wonderful Reusability Of The Adsorbent. The Results Were Illustrated That Mgo Loaded Corncob Bio Char Adsorbent Was An Excellent Adsorbent For The Removal Of Phosphate Ions.
