Abstract

Embelia Is A Genus Of Climbing Shrubs In The Family My Rsinaceae. Embelia Schimperi Is Important In Traditional Medicine Like The Other Species In The Genus. The Plant Has Been Much Known As Local Medicine For The Treatment Of Tape Worms. In This Project Berries Of Embelia Schimperi Were Subjected To Exhaustive Extraction With N-Hexane, Ethyl Acetate And Methanol Separately And Yielded Nhexane Extract, Ethyl Acetate Extract And Methanol Extracts. Based On Tlc Analysis And Yield The Methanol Extract Was Selected For Further Isolation. Chromatographic Purification (Cc And Ptlc) Of The Methanol Extract Gave Two New Compounds Coded As F3 And F4. The Compounds Were Identified To Be [Alkaloid 2-(Pent-4-Ol)-N-Methyl Cyclohexylamine (F3) And Alkaloid Benzoate 2methyl-4-(3-Methyl Butane)-6-(Methyl Benzoate)-N-Methyl Cyclohexylamine (F4]. The Structures Of These Compounds Have Been Elucidated On The Basis Of Spectroscopic Evidences (13c-Nmr, Dept, 1h-Nmr, Uv And Ir).
