Web Based Hospital Medication Management System In The Case Of Adama Hospital Medical College

Abstract

A web-based system enables computers to integrate their activities and to share the resources of the system, so that users perceive the system as a single, integrated computing facility. It can also be simply defined as a collection of independent computers that appears to its users as a single coherent system. According to this to develop the Web-Based Hospital Medication Management System we studied the existing system on reception, doctors, technicians (laboratory, radiology), pharmacy and finance using interview, observation/demonstration and by collecting the necessary information we identify the problems of the existing system. In order to solve the identified problems a Web-Based Hospital Medication Management System is developed. The system allows to replace the manual system by a web based system by integrate all services. Our project provides the benefits of streamlined operations, enhanced administration and control, superior patient care, strict cost control and improved service. It is powerful, flexible, easy to use, designed and developed to deliver real conceivable benefits to the hospital. The system is accessible by each actor (administrator, receptionist, doctor, technician, pharmacist and cashier) using his/her username and password. They can view, add, modify or delete data in their own pages to and from the database. The data can be retrieved easily; the interface is user-friendly, well protected data for personal use and makes fast data processing. This project is developed based on the database, scripting language PHP. As there are many areas where we keep the records in database for which we are using MYSQL software which is one of the best and the easiest software to keep our information. In general this project uses PHP as the front-end software which is a server side scripting programming language and has connectivity with MYSQL. All the required modules and features have been particularly built to just fit in to the requirement. Entire application is web based and built on 3 tier architecture using the latest technologies. The sound database of the application makes it more users friendly and expandable. The package is highly customizable and can be modified as per the needs and requirements of our clients. It covers all the required modules right from patient registration, up to discharge summary details.
