Abstract

Driving By Drunk Drivers Is One Of The Main Causes Of Road Traffic Accidents, The Number Of Which Is Increasing Drastically, Affecting The Economy Of Society And The Country As A Whole. To Minimize The Collisions Due To Drunk Drivers, A System Is Designed Which Detects The Alcohol Content In The Air Exhaled By The Driver In The Vehicle And Automatically Controls The Accelerator And The Brake Pedals When The Driver's Blood Alcohol Level Exceeds The Limit. Designing The System Involves, Developing Hardware And Software Programming As Device Modules. The Hardware Includes An Alcohol Sensor, Arduino Uno Board, Liquid Crystal Display, Light Emitting Diode, Stepper Motor, Motor Driver, And Buzzer. The Program Was Developed By The Arduino C Program And Embedded Into The Microcontroller Which Receives The Analog Data From The Alcohol Sensor, Analyses It And Controls The Car Pedal System(Accelerator And Brake). The Microcontroller Compares The Data It Receives From The Alcohol Sensor And Compares It With Threshold Limit The Blood Alcohol Level. If The Value Exceeds The Limit, It Takes Appropriate Measures, Such As Depressing Down The Brake Pedal And Lifting The Accelerator Pedal To Avoid The Driver From Driving The Vehicle. Based On The Recorded Values, The System Alerts Drunk Drivers And Other Road Users With Buzzer Alarms And Light Emitting Diode Show Warning Lights. The System Design Considers Three Conditions. First, If The Driver's Blood Alcohol Concentration Is Less Than 0.5g /L, The Liquid Crystal Display Shows The Driver "Normal Drive". The Pedals Are Operated By The Driver. The Buzzer And Light Emitting Diode Are Off. The Second Is When The Driver's Blood Alcohol Concentration Is Greater Than 0.5 Mg/L And Less Than 0.8 G/L. The Liquid Crystal Display The Message "Alcohol Warning" And The Yellow Light-Emitting Diode Will Continue To Flash To Alert The Driver. Third, When The Driver's Blood Alcohol Concentration Exceeds 0.8 G/L, The Liquid Crystal Display The Message "Over Drunk" And The Stepper Motor Controls The Pedal. The Red Light-Emitting Diode Flashes Continuously And The Buzzer Beep To Alert The Surrounding Drivers. Global Positioning System Receives The Vehicle's Position And Global System For Mobile Sends The Vehicle's Position To The Vehicle Owner Or Police. Electronic Design And Simulation Of Hardware And Software Components Modeled And Simulated By Proteus Software. By Using Ls-Dyna, The Vehicle??S Safe Speed Is Determined At Which Stopping The Vehicle Doesn't Cause Injury To The Driver And Passenger. When The Vehicle Brakes From 36Km/H, Head Injury Criteria, Maximum Chest Deflection, And Maximum Force Exerted On The Femur Are 983.9, 47.1 Mm, And 5.42 Kn, Respectively. These Values Are Below The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Injury Criteria Limit. Finally, The Developed Model Successfully Demonstrated The Functionality Of The System According To Expectations.
