Abstract

Building Has A Large Contribution To The Impact On The Environment. One Of The Main Impacts Comes From Co2 In Materials Used For Building Construction. In Addis Ababa, It Is Observed 99.9% Of Buildings Are Concrete Structures. The Transportation Of Raw Materials For Concrete And The Production Of Cement Emits A High Amount Of Co2 Into The Surrounding Atmosphere. And It Is Considered One Of The Environmental Impact Buildings Has On The Environment. This Study Aims To Assess The Environmental Impact Of Mass Housing Development In Terms Of Gwp. For This Purpose, The Life Cycle Assessment (Lca) Methodology Was Chosen, Based On Iso 14040 Guidelines, It Was Applied With The Available Database Of The Materials To Be Used And Lca Software To Calculate Impacts And Assess The Situation Analyzing Real Estate???S Building Technologies. The Lca Of This Study Shows That Concrete Structures Are Heavily Used, With A Proportional Impact On The Environment. It Was Also Shown That Mass Housing As Single-Unit Residential Buildings Has Higher Gwp Than Apartment Buildings With The Same Rate Of Occupants. Recommendation For Mass-Housing Projects In The Design Stage Regarding Lower Gwp Was Suggested Using The Methodology Of This Research.
