Abstract

A New Generation Of Packaging Films Is Now Being Developed Specifically For The Incorporation Of Antimicrobials, Antioxidants, Enzymes, And Functional Additives. These Active Films Bioactivity As Antioxidants Or Antimicrobials Was The Main Focus Of The Research. On The Other Side, Fruit And Vegetable Wastes Have A Wide Range Of Biological Activities Related To Their Composition, Including Antioxidant, Anticancer, Antibacterial, Anti-Inflammatory, And Anti-Hypertensive Properties. So, Valorization Of Extract Of Avocado Seed (Ase) Into Bioactive Packaging Film Was The Focus Area Of The Study. Under This Work The Effects Of Extraction Conditions On The Soxhlet Extraction Of Poly phenolic Compounds From Avocado Seed (Persea Americana Mill.) And The Development Of Bioactive Packaging Film From Gelatin Polymers And Avocado Seed Extract (A Bioactive Component) Were Investigated. Dried Avocado Seed Extract (Ase) Was Extracted Using Different Conditions, Including Ethanol Concentration (0%?�?100%), Sample-To-Solvent Ratio (1:8.3?�?1: 16.6 G/Ml), Extraction Temperature (60?�?90 ??C), And Time (2?�?8 H). The Effects Of The Parameters On Total Phenolic Content (Tpc) And Radical Scavenging Activity By Using 2,2-Diphenyl-1-Picrylhydrazyl (Dpph) Were Examined Via A Single-Factor Design Experiment. The Results Showed All Extraction Conditions To Have Significant Effects On The Ase Yield Of Extract And Antioxidant Activities. The Optimum Extraction Conditions Of 100% Ethanol, 1:12.5 G/Ml Solid-To-Solvent, At 70 ??C For 4 Hours Favored Ase Poly phenolic Potential And Higher Antioxidant Activity. The Maximum Amounts For Extract Yield, Total Phenolic Content, And Radical Scavenging Activity Were 14.30 ?? 0.20 %, 64.61?? 0.72 Mg Gae/G Extract, And 71.65% Respectively. Ic50 Value Is Also 1.97 Mg/Ml. In Addition, The Gelatin Film-Based Bioactive Film Containing Different Concentration (0, 1, 3, 5, 7, And 10 Wt. %) Of Ase Was Successfully Prepared By The Solution Casting Technique. The Incorporation Of Ase Into Gelatin Films Increased The Performance And Radical Scavenging Activity From 13.49% To 60.29% At The Highest Percentage Of Ase (10 Wt. %). The Water Solubility Of Ase Incorporated Gelatin-Based Film Improved From 100% To 36.4%. Therefore, This Study Showed That Gelatin Film Incorporated With Avocado Seed Extract Is A Potential Material For Developing Active Packaging Film, As It Boasts Superior Antioxidant Characteristics.
