dc.description.abstractIn Software-Dened Network (SDN), OpenFlow enabled switch is currently lacking the exibilityinabsenceofadequatememorycalledTernaryContentAddressMemory(TCAM). Particularly in proactive ow entry mode, meanwhile in reactive mode; responsiveness is main concern in mission critical operations. Several researches have shown that a ow writingapproachistheprimaryperformancefactorinSDNinfrastructureanditsinuence in applications/services that need sensitive response time to the request in latency hungry playing eld. The aim of this study is to design the new hybridized ow writing approach, developed by integrating reactive and proactive approaches, and to recommend the best hybrid feature that can perform better than the existing. The study approach is to identify each segmentation based on senders location where packet is coming, by looking header attribute for destination. Proactive approach is applied, if segment is identical, and a reactive approach is maintained where segmentation is di�erent. Additionally, the system has some intelligent capability for removing proactive ows based on usage analyses over a certain period of time. The segmentation in the system is characterized by ip address prex and service orientation. Upon comparing the performance of reactive and hybrid approaches using latency and throughput parameters, the later revealed that signicant improvementinthecontrollerresponsiveness. Theresultsshowthatthehybridapproachon the controller performance enhances positively, 18.4% latency and 23.5% in throughput improvements. Thus,asakeyfactorinapplications/services,responsetimeisreduced. Further researchisneededtoidentifyotherfactorsthatcanimprovetheperformanceofSDNcontroller.en_US
