Andrachne aspera, is a small perennial under shrub, traditional medicine plant used for treating various ailments. In this work aerial and roots part of the plant is collected from grassy land of mountain in Boset Woreda, East Shoa Zone, Oromia region particular place called Usade Mountain. The plant locally is known as “Koricha-hadha” (Oromifa), where its root is used for wound healing. The crude methanol extract was partitioned with solvents and subjected to column chromatography to yield two compounds. Phytochemical screening test was done for crude extracts and the result indicated the presence of alkaloids, tannins, terpenoids and saponins in the methanol extract but absent in ethyl acetate and n-hexane extract. The structures of compounds were determined as sucrose and cellobiose using NMR and IR spectroscopic techniques.en_US
