Structural, Morphological And Optical Properties Of Zno Nanoparticle Doped By Manganese (Mn) And Gadolium (Gd) And Its Antimicrobial Activity Using Co-Precipitation Method

dc.description.abstractIn This Thesis, Zno Nanoparticles Were Doped By Manganese (Mn) And Gadolium (Gd) Successfully Using Chemical Co-Precipitation Method. The Effects Of Mn And Gd Dopants On The Structural, Morphological And Optical Properties Of Zno Were Investigated. In Addition, The Antimicrobial Activity Of Zno Nanoparticle Doped By Mn And Gd Metals Was Obtained. The Structural, Morphological And Optical Properties Of These Nanoparticles Were Characterized Using X-Ray Diffraction (Xrd), Scanning Electron Microscope (Sem) And Ultra Violet-Visible (Uv-Vis) Spectroscopy. The Xrd Results Indicated All Synthesized Pure Zno, Mn And Gd Nanoparticles Were Possessed Hexagonal Phase Of Wurtzite Structure And Have Average Crystallite Size Ranged From 38 Nm To 31 Nm Respectively. The Decrease In Crystallite Size, Lattice Parameters, Unit Volume And Bond Length Was Observed After The Incorporation Of Mn And Gd Ions Into The Zno Matrix. On Another Hand, The Increments In Strain And Concentration Of Defects Were Observed After The Mn And Gd Dopants. From Scanning Electron Microscopy (Sem) Image, The Nanosized Spherical Shape Particles With Well-Defined Distributions Were Observed. The Energy Band Gaps Estimated From Ultraviolet-Visible (Uv-Vis) Absorption Spectra Found To Be 3.35 Ev, 3.28 Ev And 3.07 Ev For Undoped Zno, Gd Doped And Mn Doped, Respectively. The Antimicrobial Activity Of Undoped, Mn And Gd Doped- Zno Nanoparticles Were Tested Against Gram-Negative Bacteria (E. Coli And P. Aeruginosa), Gram-Positive Bacteria (S. Aureus And B. Subtilis) And Fungus (C. Albicans) Using Agar-Well Diffusion Method. The Results Indicated That The Antimicrobial Activity Of Doped Zno Nanoparticle Increased As Compared To Undoped Zno Nanoparticle. It Was Also Found That The Gram-Positive Bacteria Were More Susceptible To Zno Nanoparticle Than Gramnegative Bacteria And Fungus.en_US
