Abstract
An Automotive Suspension Is The System Of Parts That Give A Vehicle The Ability To Absorb (Avoid) Shock Loads. And It Is Placed Between The Frame And The Wheel. A Vehicle Suspension Maximizes The Road Holding, Provides Steering Stability With Good Handling And Ensures The Comfort Of The Passengers. The Suspension System Duty Is To Absorb Or Dissipate Energy In Addition To Supporting The Weight Of The ?�?Bajaj?�? Three Wheeler And Four Wheeler Vehicles. Small Vehicles Are Being Imported And Used For Urban Commuting In Ethiopia. The Suspension System Of These Vehicles Is Found To Have Design Drawbacks Due To Their Design Mismatch To Ethiopian Road Conditions. So, There Is A Need To Improve The Design Of Suspension System To Increase Its Durability. Here In This Work A Design Of Macpherson Strut Suspension System For Bajaj Qute Four Wheeler Small Vehicle Was Done In Order To Solve The Existing Problem Of These Vehicles In Addition There Is A Pressing Need For Developing Indigenous Technology To Avoid Importation Of Spare Parts Which Leads To Industrial Growth In The Country. In Order To Complete This Project, There Were Several Steps To Be Followed. Data Collection Was Done Using Different Methods. Then Cad Modeling Of The Structure Was Made By Using The Data Recorded From The Existing Vehicle Suspension System. Then Design Of Each Component Of Macpherson Strut And Existing Suspension System Was Made. Catia V5 Software Was Used To Draw The 3d Model Of The Suspension System. Also Analytical Analysis Was Performed For Analysis Of The Improved Suspension System For The Required Results And Finite Element Analysis Was Done Using Ansys Software And The Result Was Compared With The Existing System. The New Models Becomes Safe Than The Existing In All Aspects. So, The Problem In Lateral Direction Which Is Flexible Camber Curve Is Solved, Because The Macpherson Suspension System Have Good Camber Curve Not As Flexible As Other Suspension System And Also The Stress In Existing System Leads The System To Have Flexible Camber, This Is Corrected In The New Model. Also, The Steering Arm Position Is Corrected To The Middle Of The Knuckle To Balance The Steering Force Distribution. The Vehicle Also Has Low
