Abstract

Aluminum work is a current expansion for building construction work in Ethiopia. Now a days industries need different and fast technologies in order to fabricate doors, windows, staircase, hand rails and supports, railings for verandas, partitions, structures and corridors in Ethiopia. The problem of SME and private sector on Aluminum profiles cutting operation is done traditionally fabrication product of Aluminum profiles and assembly, this operation process leads to using without clamp (holding work piece by hand), the machine when work easily hot, no work peace supporter, no safety guard of chip, limited to 0-90 o adjust cutting angles and when cut by itself unexpected angle formed so on. These machines have side effect that cause burn, injury, unsatisfied of operator on work due to safety guard (chip scatter), loss concentration on work and is not accurate joint of Aluminum profiles parts. The objective of this research to solve those problem, Aluminum profiles cutting machine with a capability of making perfect cutting operations and joint on Aluminum work area is required to be designed and manufactured that operates electrically. The scope of project has designed and analysis of Aluminum profile cutting machine, fabrication of the machine and testing the machine for its functionality. To achieve this, an observation has been made in the selected cities (Adama SMEs, private sector of Aluminum work, distributes Aluminum profiles and Adama small and micro enterprise office) and data are collected via observation, semi-structured interviews, group discussions, and questionnaire surveys with key actors along the value chain. Based on the data analyzed, an improved Aluminum profiles cutting machine has designed and manufactured to improve the efficiency of the users. Type of material for machine assigned for shaft, pulley, key, U-channel will be respectively mild steel, Aluminum Duralumin alloy, Carbon steel, Mild steel as economical and strength to hold all load acting on the machine
