Abstract

Injera Is The Major Food Type In Ethiopia, And Some Other Neighboring Countries, And Cooking Is Also The Daily Routine Of Every Community. According To The Population Of Ethiopia, A Large Number Of Populations Live In Rural Areas. This Population Bakes And Cooks Their Food Using Biomass Whereas The Urban Population Commonly Uses Electricity. In The Firewood Collection Process Deforestation And Greenhouse Gas Emissions Are Significantly Increasing, Which Has A Negative Impact On Climate And Individual's Health. One Of The Solutions To This Problem Is The Use Of Biogas Fuel As An Alternative Substitution For Firewood For Cooking And Baking. This Fuel Can Be Obtained From Cattle Dung, Human Extras, Kitchen Wastes, Any Plant Remains, Etc. This Study Provides A Multi-Purpose Biogas Stove That Can Serve For Baking And Cooking Applications. The Different Functions Of The Stove Can Be Obtained Only By Interchanging The Burner Head. The System Has A Primary And Secondary Aeration System For Achieving Complete Combustion. The Experimental Controlled Cooking Test And Water Boiling Test Have Been Done For The Cooking Part Of The Stove And The Injera Baking Test Has Been Done For The Baking Part Of The Stove. Since Biogas Production Is Out Of The Scope Of This Work, Lpg Gas Has Been Used As A Substitution For Biogas Fuel For The Experimental Test And This Consumed Gas Converted To Biogas Using Standard Unit Conversion. This Has Also Pointed Out That The Designed System Can Also Be Used In Urban Areas With Lpg Gas As A Fuel. The Experimental Test Has Shown That The Thermal Efficiency For The Injera Baking Part Of The Stove Is 87.8% And For The Cooking Part Of The Stove Is 65.2% Respectively. Due To The Equal Distribution Of Gas Discharge Holes In Radial And Transversal Directions, And The Gas Distributor Which Has Been Installed Inside The Burner, The Baking Surface Temperature Distribution Is Uniform And A Good Quality Of Injera (Spongy Eye On The Top And Smooth Surface On The Bottom) Has Been Baked. Similarly, Rice Has Been Cooked Using The Cooking Part Of The Stove.
