Abstract

Cloud computing is one of the advancements in technology that increasingly becoming an essential component of any organization?�?s computing strategy. The use of Cloud computing has the potential to expand access to career guidance. In most educational institutions, governmental and non-governmental organizations of Ethiopia, Career guidance is a vaguely applied concept. The strictness of the problem and shortage of relevant information among university students have encouraged the undertaking of this study. The aim of this study was to assess career development among undergraduate students of HEI and developing cloud-based career guidance framework to expand the access to its services. Quantitative and qualitative data was gathered using crosssectional study design through self-administered structured questionnaires and interviews. The study used 149 participants of which 120 are undergraduate students of AAU, HU, and SU who were recruited through judgment or Purposive sampling and 29 are career experts from AAU. The analysis employed SPSS ?�? 22.0 to calculate frequencies and percentage. lack of career experts, lack of common framework and integrated system that help to cost effectively expand the access of career guidance are some of the challenges identified by this study about the career guidance in HEIS of Ethiopia. The result of this study also shows that career guidance is significant in understanding students?�? personal values, clarifying their goals, career choice directions, and jobsearching skills. Therefore, the proposed career guidance system framework was designed using Microsoft Azure-based cloud infrastructure to narrows the gaps of storage, integrated system update cost, scalability cost and the cost required for training career advisors to improve and expand the access of the career guidance service in all educational institutions of Ethiopia.
