Abstract

Small Scale Farmers Use Portable Wheat Thresher Machine Developed By Different Agricultural Research Centers For Threshing Wheat Crop. But Appropriate Evaluation Of These Machines Which Plays A Fundamental Role In Aiming To Reduce Agricultural Production Costs, Improve The Quality Of Products And Machine Reliability In Determining The Comparative Performance Of Machines Are Not Done Well. The Aim Of This Study Was To Conduct Comparative Analysis Of Engine Operated Portable Wheat Thresher. The Machine Was Evaluated For Wheat Crop At Three Levels Of Cylinder Speeds And Three Levels Of Feed Rates Keeping The Concave Clearance Constant. The Test Results Indicated A Maximum Of 95.5% Threshing Efficiency And A Minimum Of 0.128% Grain Damaged And The Average Output Capacity Of Machine Was 123kg Of Seed For Melkassa Made Thresher (Thresher I). For Chinese Thresher (Thresher Ii) The Test Results Indicated A Maximum Of 98% Threshing Efficiency And A Minimum Of 0.093% Grain Damaged And The Average Output Capacity Of Machine Was 240.234kg. Of Seed. Considering The Technical Performance Measuring Parameters Chinese Thresher (Thresher Ii) Is Preferred.
