Abstract

Now A Days The Struggle To Survive In A Global Market Competition Has Become Threatening And Even Though Productivity Of Manufacturing Industry Plays Significant Role In Enabling An Industry To Survive In This Competition, It Can Be Negatively Impacted By The Presence Of Bottlenecks In Production System. However, Production Bottlenecks Are Uninventable, They Can Be A Key Ingredient To Enhance Productivity And Profitability Of The Entire Production. This Study Focuses On Improving Productivity Through Process Analysis, Evaluating And Managing Equipment Failure And Operational Loss Of Sugar In Byproducts To Enhance Productivity During Cane Processing In Cane Sugar Factory. As Case Study, Matahara Sugar Factory (Msf) Was Used. The Statistical Process Control (Spc) Tools And Statistical Package For The Social Sciences (Spss) Were Used In This Work To Collect, Compute, And Analyze Data. The Descriptive Study Was Conducted To Examine The Impact Of Machineries Failures And Sugar Losses During Cane Sugar Processing And Controlling Mechanisms Were Suggested To Minimize The Effect Of Machinery Component Failure And Sucrose Losses With By Product. The Company Sugar Losses In Bagasse, Filter Cake, Final Molasses, And Undetermined Were 0.725%, 0.51%, 1.78%, And 0.45% Respectively. In The Last Five Years, Sugar Losses With Bagasse, Filter Cake And Molasses Were Totaled 3.37%, Or 927,512,115.03 Birr. Therefore, It Has Been Concluded That Identification And Elimination Of Production Bottleneck Has Great Positive Impact On Productivity Improvement And Loss Reduction Which Ultimately Ensures A Company??S Profitability.
