Design And Modeling Of Three Wheeler Chassis For Sheller/Thresher Farm Machines

Abstract

Three Wheeled Vehicle Is A Compromise Between Two-Wheeled And Four-Wheeled Vehicles. That, It Has The Various Advantage In Aspects Of Cost, Load-Carrying Capacity, Fuel Consumption, Space Occupation And Weight. Hence, It Is Convenient And Widely Used As A Common Means Of Transportation Of Peoples And Goods For Shorter Distances Over Many Countries Especially In Developing One. However, The Existing Three-Wheeled Vehicles Are Successful Means Of Transportation For People And Goods But Since It Is Limited To Urban Areas Only, People In Rural Area Of Ethiopia Yet, Has No Such Access For Transportation People, Goods And For Performing Their Farming Activities Properly Too. To Minimize This, A New Three-Wheeled Chassis Can Be Used To Transport Sheller/Thresher Machines Easily, Was Designed And Modelled. This Also Helps To Make The Transportation Of People And Goods Easily, Economically And To Perform Farming Activities Simultaneously Using Such Machines. The Purpose Of This Thesis Work Is To Design, And Model Three-Wheeled Chassis Which Would Be Convenient To Transport Farm Machines, Such As Sheller/Thresher At Farm Sites Or Rural Area. This Had Achieved By Design And Modelling Threewheeled Chassis Of Ladder Frame Using Structural Steel Of Rectangular Hollow Section, Air-Cooled Diesel Engine Of 9hp And Components Of Tagro Bajaj (Bajaj Re-4 Stroke) Such As: Steering Column, Braking Systems, Suspension Systems, Wheel And Tyre, By Using Autocad 2007 And Ansys R18 Software For Modelling Chassis Structures And Verification Of Static Analysis Respectively. The Results That Obtained Of Static Analysis Was Better In Strength And Stiffness, Easy To Manufacture And Cost Effective.
