In this thesis, we have developed the design for implementation of solar PV power system for Adama Science and Technology University ICT Building Data Center. Currently the building uses utility power from grid (EEP) at normal conditions; and it uses diesel generator as a backup during power interruption. The target of this work is to solve real problems of the site by a solar PV power system to supply especially the critical loads of this particular building, so that the system will be independent of grid which interrupts frequently. The thesis/project have been accomplished by undergoing case study at the site; designing the capacities of photovoltaic panel, battery, charge controller, inverter and connecting cables. This helps to deal with current status, major achievements and future aspects of solar energy in ASTU and evaluation of current energy strategies for overcoming the obstructions and implementing solar PV power for the future. Solar radiation is an integral part of different renewable energy resources. It consists of a study of photovoltaic technology, where solar energy plays an important role for the power supply either as a standalone system or in case of emergency by replacing diesel generator which causes environmental pollution. The design functionality of the system has been shown by a model project.en_US
