Evaluation And Development Of Cadastral Information System By Using Web Gis Techniques: A Case Of Adama Tows ,Ethiopa

Abstract

The Cadastral Information System Is Used To Create A Secure And Reliable Real Property Registration System In Order To Improve Land Administration System And Thereby Contribute To The Processes Of Achieving Sustainable Development Goals. Urban Cadastral System Of Ethiopia Has Not Been Successful Due To Cadastral Policy And Legislative Gaps, Poor Institutional Arrangements And Technical Deficiencies. Also The Unsuccessful Practice Of The Ethiopian Urban Cadastral System Is The Result Of The Absence Of Nationally Agreed Methodology That Can Measure And Evaluate The Performance Of The Urban Cadastral System. Cities/Towns In Ethiopia Have Common Problems And/Or Challenges In Managing Their Cadastral Information System. And Adama Tows Is One Of The Tows Phasing Various Problems And Challenges Related To Cadastral Information System. Now Days The Dissemination Of Digital Cadastral Data On The Internet By Open Source Web-GIS Has Become Essential To Enhance Communication Between Administration, Decision-Makers, And The Society. Therefore, The Main Objective Of This Study Is To Evaluate The Existing Cadastral System Of Adama Tows And Demonstrate Modern Cadastral Information System By Using Web GIS In Order To Enable Digital Cadastral Data Sharing And Information Dissemination. To Achieve The Study's Objectives, Primary Data Such As Questionnaires And Interviews Are Collected By Using The Sdi-Readiness Approach Developed By Delgado Et Al (2005), And Mixed Research Method Data Collection And Analysis Is Used To Analyze The Data. Secondly, The Researcher Developed Cadastral Web Maps By Using Secondary Data Obtained From Adama Tows Land Management Office. And The Findings Of The Study Imply That There Is A Knowledge And Technological Gap In The Process Of Developing Cadastral Information System Of The Study Area. Therefore: To Support Sustainable Development, It Is Critical To Create Awareness And Building Capacity Of The Tows At All Levels In Order To Modernize The Existing Cadastral Information System In Accordance With Scientific Standards.
