Abstract

Cloud Computing service providers have sufficient amount of resources on their resource pool to be provided for the cloud users. This resource should be scaled up and scaled down to satisfy cloud users demand. Cloud service provider use two methods to scaling the resources. These methods are; horizontal scaling and vertical scaling method. Horizontal scaling scheme for scale up takes a minute to configure an extra virtual machines and low resource utilization. But the positive side of horizontal scaling is, it has availability. The second option are vertical scaling method, scaling resources are added on running virtual machines and it takes second for the configuration. The goal of this study is to propose the hybrid of both resource scaling approach to maximize resource utilization and satisfy users demand in cloud environment by performing vertical scaling and horizontal scaling approach respectively. We use CloudSim tool kit to implement the proposed approach. To make resource scaling we are following the threshold value of the resources.
