dc.description.abstractOne of the most important stages in constructing a wireless network that meets coverage, capacity, and quality of service requirements is radio network planning. In this thesis, the 5G radio network coverage and capacity are investigated taking Adama city as case study. The required number of gNodeB in the target environment's coverage region, as well as capacity evaluation, supported the ever-increasing subscriber growth is calculated in this thesis. For theoretical analysis and simulations, possible parameters for link budget, coverage, frequency, and capacity were gathered from standards and existing networks. The urban macro propagation model is used to model the propagation. The Link Budget and path loss computations are performed using MATLAB 2015 to evaluate the number of gNodeB required to satisfy the coverage and capacity requirements. And the simulation is performed using ATOLL 3.4 version Software to predict the coverage and capacity. For Adama city coverage and capacity planning, 5G New Radio provided 76 gNodeBs (coverage planning) and 60gNodeBs (capacity planning). From which the maximum of the two is (76gNodeB'S) deployed. The simulation output result contains coverage prediction by signal level, RSRP, transmitter overlapping zones. More than 98.1 percent of the target area is covered by the strong signal between -70dBm and -65dBm.From the propagation model comparisons as frequency increases Rural Macro Propagation model has high path-loss compared with Urban Macro and Indoor Hotspot Office The capacity analysis by throughput and SINR is performed. The peak Radio Link Control throughput for uplink is 248.1 Mbps and 185.2 for Mbps for downlinken_US
