Abstract
The Rapidly Changing Pattern Of Urban Growth Is Factor That Rise New Problems For Urban Planning And Development. Land Suitability Analysis Is The Process To Determine Whether The Land Resource Is Suitable For Some Specific Uses And To Determine The Suitability Level. Abattoir Is Urban Function That Need Suitable Site To Be Compatible With The Surrounding Geographic Features. Hence, This Study Aimed To Select Suitable Site For An Abattoir In Nagele Borana Town Using Geospatial Technology Based Fahp Techniques And Multi-Criteria Decision Making Analysis Methods. Four Main Criteria Namely: Geological, Environmental, Economic And Population Were Identified And Split Into, Fourteen Criteria Including Road, Elevation, Slope, Aspect, Existing Abattoir Site, Land Use Land Cover, Waterbody (Surface Water/Stream And Underground Water/Borehole), Settlement Area, High Power Line, Landfill Site, Geology Types, Soil Types, And Population Density Were Considered As Criteria Factors And Eleven Constraints Namely; Administration Offices, High Voltage Station, Airport, School, Health Center, Cattle Market, Military Camp, Religious Area, Cemeteries Area, And Industrial Area Were Identified And Prioritized As Per Judgment Of Urban Planning And Land Use Land Management Experts. The Fahp Derivation Showed That Fourteen Criterion Were Classified Into Four Pillar Such As Economic, Environmental, Geological Condition, And Population Density To Derivate There Weighted Priorities Depicted As Economic Criteria Have Been Highest Weighted Which (45%) And From The Economic Factor Lulc Criteria Was Ranked Highest Score (13%) And All Criteria Consistency Ratio Were Acceptable Which Means (Cr ??? 0.10). .From Final Suitability Map Of Study Area (11.07%) 4.76 Km2Area Was Suitable For Abattoir Allocation. To Validate The Suitability Of The Proposed Abattoir Land Use Plan Of The Town, The Plan Was Compared With The Final Suitability Map. The Validated Result Of The Study Expose1.59km2Of Proposed Abattoir Land Use Plan Site_4 High Suitable, Site_3 (1.06mk2) Moderate Suitable, Site_2 (0.33km2) Less Suitable And Site_1 (1.21km2) As Restricted Respectively. However, 0.0069 Km2Area Covers The Existing Abattoir Site From (43 Km2) Areas Of Study Area Already Developed While 1.21km2Area Was Proposed An Abattoir Land Use Undeveloped But Categorized Under Restriction Areas. Therefore, The Final Suitability Map Provides A Useful Guide For The Proposed Abattoir Land Use. The Study Would Support The Planning Efforts Being Made To Improve Abattoir Land Provision, And Also Supports The Government In Formulating Effective Policies To The Context.
