Productivity Improvement Techniques:Application In Addis Ababa Save Housing Development Enterprise.

Abstract

Any Developing Country like Ethiopia has a problem of house. To solve this problem the government is working on building the houses Condominium. But these projects are delayed from their completion time means many projects built under Addis Ababa Saving House Development Enterprise (AASHDE) are delayed. The main objective of this paper was assessing productivity improvement techniques by identifying factors affecting productivity in AASHDE projects. The Study includes literature review, questioners, site study as the primary data and to refine gathered data from primary data this study also is uses archival data. The questioners which are 41 questions from factors affecting productivity and 48 questions from productivity improvement techniques were distributed for 70 randomly selected samples from directly participating 151 contractors, 9 consultants and 76 clients superintendents. 67 Questionnaires were returned from 70 sampled Questioners which is around 96 % of distributed Questioners were returned. The analyses for data from samples were analyzed through ranking the top categories and individual variables. The top Factors affecting the productivity in AASHDE were identified in rank which were Management related, Resource related, Project related, Force majeure, Healthy and safety related and policy and regulation related factor affecting the productivity. And the analysis was assessed top and main productivity improvement techniques from 48 variables under five main categories; which were adapted and used in AASHDE projects.
