Abstract

In The Well-Developed Applications Of Remote Sensing And Gis, The Importance Of Geospatial Data Source Is Valuable Worldwide. Ethiopia Has Countered With These Problems About The Scarcity Of Geospatial And Digital Data Sources. However, There Is Abundant Of High Resolution Google Earth Imagery Of Different Area Temporal Data That Is Used As An Alternative Of Geospatial Data Source, Which Requires To Examine Its Horizontal Positional Accuracy Assessment, For Further Use As A Geospatial Data Sources. In This Research Google Earth And Ikonos Satellite Image Of Horizontal Positional Accuracy Were Tested. The Geodatabase Has Been Generated To Know The Current Status Of The Adama City. In The, The Check Points, Lines And Polygon Samples Are Used. The Samples Are Taken From Google Earth Image, Ikonos 2004 Satellite Image And Orthophoto And The Computed Point Root Mean Square Error (Rmse) In X_Coordinate Between Orthophoto And Google Earth Was 2.66ft/ 0.813m And Orthophoto And Ikonos Satellite Image Was 11.263ft/ 3.433m. The Y_Coordinate Of Orthophoto And Google Earth Was 1.296 Ft/0.395m AndThe Orthophoto And Ikonos Satellite Image Was 3.806ft/1.160m. The Horizontal Line Shift Between Google Earth And Orthophoto Is 3.541ft/ 1.079m, Ikonos To Orthophoto Was 4.097m/ 13.442ft And The Area Difference Between The Orthophoto And Google Earth Was 4.219sqft/ 0.392sqm, And The Orthophoto And Ikonos Satellite Image Was 13.347sqft/1.24sqm. The Current Geospatial Database Structures In Adama City Shows That Around 173km Is Coble Stone Road Network And 77km Is Asphalt Road, The Rest Is Earth/ Foot Path. The Electric Power Distribution Is Around 274km Through Electric Lines And 319 Pole Mounted Transformers Are Exists Currently.
