dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to examine perceptions and attitudes of employees towards approaches and challenges of fighting corruption in Oromia Regional State. Three hundred and thirteen (313) respondents from which 226 (72%) male and 87 (28%) female, were selected using stratified and systematic sampling techniques to obtain quantitative data and twenty for (24) participants for FGDs from three City Administrations were selected. The respondents were given self- administered questionnaire adopted from various literatures. In addition, to substantiate the quantitative data, FGDs were conducted. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive statistics. The findings of this study revealed that corruption is perceived as one of the developmental challenges following high cost of living and inflation. It is also found that the current approaches of fighting corruption can be effective if equal emphasis is given to both preventive and curative approaches. From the findings of the study it is recommended that, OEACC and Oromia Regional State need to pay attention to the approaches and challenges of fighting corruption in order to undertake effective anti-corruption campaign. Finally, further researches were recommended to examine perceptions and attitudes of employees towards approaches and challenges of fighting corruption in Oromia Regional State in order to have regional image with this regard.en_US
