The Spatial Configuration And Dynamics Of Urban Growth Are Important Topics Of Analysis In The Contemporary Urban Studies. Adama Town Is Undergoing Rapid Changes And Need To Be Study The Urban Morphological Analysis Of The Town. This Research Focuses On Analyzing The Spatial Pattern, Driving Forces Of Built-Up Expansion And Identifies Different Urban Growth Types In Adama Town During 2000-2019. To Analyze The Spatial Patterns Of Built-Up Expansion Area And The Selected Explanatory Factors, Remote Sensing And Gis Tools Are Utilized. Built-Up And Nonbuilt Up Land Cover Classes As Of 2000, 2010, And 2019 Are Extracted From Landsat Images. The Extent Of Expansion During The Study Period Is Quantified; The Growth Pattern Is Analyzed Using Selected Factors And Identified The Growth Types. The Spatial Regression Model Was Used To Identify The Major Factors That Significantly Contributed To The Resulted Growth Pattern Over The Last 19 Years. The Findings Revealed That The Average Annual Built-Up Expansion In The First Temporal Periods (2000-2010) Is 243ha And 107ha In The Second Temporal Period (2010-2019). Moreover, The Results Of Spatial Regression Model Revealed That Distance To Road, Slope, Distance To Institutions, Distance To Cbd, And Distance To Industry Area Were The Major Driving Forces Of Urban Growth At Different Temporal Periods With Varying Level Of Strength. Identifying The Three Urban Growth Types Confirmed That Edge-Expansion Was The Dominant Growth Type Followed By Outlaying And Infill Growth Type On Both Temporal Periods. Overall, This Study Shows A Better Understanding Of Urban Growth And Its Major Driving Forces Responsible For Resulted Morphology Of The Town, And Helps To Provide An Effective Way For Urban Planning.
