Nitrocellulose Has Attracted The Interest Of Researchers Due To Its Numerous Applications, IncludingGun Propellant And Other Industries Such As Paints, Medicines, Adhesives, And Celluloid s. The AimOf This Study Is To Synthesize And Characterize Nan nitrocellulose From Water Hyacinth To Be UsedIn Solid Propellant Formulations. The Novelty Was In Exploring The Possibility Of Synthesizing Nan nitrocellulose With A High Percentage Of Nitrogen Content From Water Hyacinth Feedstock ForThe First Time. The Experiments Were Carried Out After Nan cellulose Was Extracted From WaterHyacinth Using Chemical And Mechanical Treatments Including Sample Preparation, SoxhletExtraction, Alkaline Treatment, Bleaching, Sulfuric Acid Hydrolysis, Ultrasonic Homogenization, AndLyophilization Followed By Nitration With Subsequent Stabilization Steps By Using One Factor At ATime Experimental Design At Nitrating Acid Mixture To Cellulose Ratio (20:1-40:1) Ml/G, Sulfuric ToNitric Acid Ratio (2.4??3.6), Nitrating Time (20-60) Min, And Nitration Temperature (20-40) ???. TheExtracted Nan cellulose Was Characterized Using Psa, Xrd, Ftir, Sem, And Tga-Dsc ToDetermine The Size, Crystallinity, Functional Groups, Morphological Changes, And Thermal Stability,Respectively. The Nitrated Nan cellulose (Ds = 2.58) Was Also Characterized By Elemental Analysis,Bomb Calorimetry, Tga-Dsc, Ftir, And Sem To Determine The Nitrogen Content, Calorific Value,Thermal Stability And Decomposition Properties, Functional Group, And Morphological Changes,Respectively. Experimental Findings Confirmed The Successful Synthesis Of The Desired Pure AndThermally Stable Nanosized Cellulose (91.3 Nen_US
