Abstract
Networks of the vehicle (VANET) are a part of a MANET network characterized by having high mobility speed and dynamic topology change. In this network most of the communication interchange in broadcasting mode. Even if, this broadcasting technique assures the optimal delivery of emergency messages all over the required area, it also causes unwanted flooding of an emergency message which brings large contention, redundant rebroadcast and collision that causes for broadcast storm problem (BSP). This BSPs intern affects the overall performance of vehicular ad hoc network (VANET). For this case it, requires some optimal method to suppress broadcast storm in the existing mechanisms by reducing number of rebroadcasting vehicles.
This research proposes a sender decision based location-aware broadcast storm suppressing algorithm for multi-directional road scenario by applying epidemic spreading technique called Susceptible, Infected and Remove on fast broadcast algorithm. The algorithm simulates by using NS2 and SUMO simulator. The result of this simulation show that ,the proposed solution improves the network performance in all cases, especially it reduces RRR, Broadcast Delay, and Broadcast Collision Ratio (BCR) while increase emergency message delivery ratio.
