Assessement On Adoption And Implementation Of Green Building In Ethiopia, In Case Of Addis Ababa

Abstract

Green Building Technology Is The Practice Of Creating Structures And Using Processes That Are Environmentally Responsible And Resource-Efficient Throughout A Building?�?S Life-Cycle From Feasibility Study To Design, Construction, Operation, Maintenance, Renovation And Deconstruction. Green Construction And Operation Will Promote A Healthy Environment For All Involved, And It Will Not Disrupt The Land, Water, Resources And Energy In And Around The Building. It Provides Some Of The Most Effective Means To Achieve A Range Of Global Goals, Such As Addressing Climate Change, Creating Sustainable And Thriving Communities, And Driving Economic Growth. Especially The Developed Countries Accept This As A Best Option To The Mitigation Of The Construction Industry Problems Like, Impacts On The Environment, Energy Efficiency, Using Recycled And Recyclable Materials, Improve Building Lifespan And Health Of Occupants And Have Developed Codes, Policies And Frameworks To Encourage And Enforce The Implementation Of Green Building Concepts In Their Construction Industries. But In A Sharp Contrast, The Uptakes Of Green Building In The Construction Industry Of Developing Countries Of Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) Is At Infant Stage And Characterized By The Absence Of Green Building Codes And Frameworks And Faces Challenges Like Unfamiliarity, Misunderstanding The Concept, Lack Of Clear Ways To Adopt And Implement Green Building And There Are Different Barriers Like Economic Issues, Attitude And Market, Management And Government, Product Information And Sourcing, Technology And Training. From That Fact And Ethiopia As A Part Of Developing Sub Saharan African Country, This Study Was Conducted In Ethiopia In Case Of Capital City Addis Ababa To Assess That The Level Of Awareness, To Identify Opportunities, Enablers And Challenges To Practice Green Construction. Therefore, By Critical Review Of Literatures, Analysis Of Questionaries?�? And Interviews By Descriptive Or Frequency Analysis By Using SPSS Software, The Current Level Of Awareness About Green Building And Some Of Potential Opportunities, Challenge/Barriers And Enablers/Promoting Strategies For Adoption And Implementation Of Green Building Were Identified And Discussed. Finally Concluded That Green Building Concept Is At Very Infant Or Even In Null Stage And Its Concept, Adoption And Implementation Strategies And An Increased Uptake Concept Needs Attention And Tried To Recommend My Best At The Recommendations.
