Abstract

The Production Line Effectiveness Is An Important Driver Of Operation Efficiency, Particularly In Food Processing When Demand Is Varied And The Quality Level Is High. This Study Investigates The Production And Layout Problems That Fikir Food Processing Company Has, Particularly About Making Their Unic Soft Biscuit Products. The Current Layout Of Operation Suffers From Overall Inefficiencies Such As Unbalanced Workstations, Excessive Idle Time, And Gaps Between Batches. To Solve Such Problems, The Study Employed A Line-Balancing Method. Direct Observation, Interviews, And Time Studies Were Used In Carrying Out An Intensive Investigation Of The Current Manufacturing System. The Collected Data Were Simulated With Arena Simulation To Identify Bottlenecks And Quantify Performance Measures. Based On The Findings, A New Production Line Layout Was Proposed For Soft Biscuit Production Is Balances The Line Of Production Smooth Workflow, Aligns Process Duration To Takt Time, Eliminates Idle Machines, Decreases Total Cycle Time From 48:06 Minutes To 29:42 Minutes, Reduces The Number Of Worker From 60 To 54, Increasing Total Production Per Day From 2401 To 3514. The Enhanced Layout Is Modeled To Increase Production Capacity By A Significant 46.3%. This Research Not Only Delivers Viable Solutions To Fikir Food Processing Company?��?S Production Constraints But Also Delivers A Scalable Method That Can Be Adopted By Other Food Processing Firms With Similar Problems.
