Abstract
Construction industry plays a major role for economic development of this world. However,it is exposed to problems such as delay, cost overrun, quality (defects) and low satisfaction of clients as major problems. There are many reasons of these problems. Among those reasons implementation and interpretation of the Project delivery method has its own negative impact. Having this in background the study sets general objective as appropriate project delivery system selection model adapted for road projects in the country /Ethiopia/.The general objective addressed through three specific objectives aimed to determine performance relationship of DBB and DB project, to establish set of criteria to select appropriate PDM and to develop appropriate PDM selection model. To achieve the study, the paper used a quantitative and qualitative research approach. And due to the purpose, an exploratory and descriptive research design is used. Using those techniques the different findings from questionnaire and case study discussed accordingly. The target population for this study is total number of road construction projects commenced by ERA and whose progress is more than 50%. Non-probability, Purposive sampling used to Select samples from the population.Based on the research objectives; questionnaires were prepared and distributed to 95 professionals. From this, the researcher collects 79 (83.15%).The collected data were analyzed using a statistical package for social science software (SPSS). With regard to reliability, the results showed that all measures used in this study have an acceptable level of reliability. The 1st specific objective deal with Performance comparisons and case study which used empirical data on three DBB and three DB currently finished projects wereanalyzed and results as, DB project delivery system have minimum schedule growth, low cost deviation and moderate quality. Next, A relative importance index was used to rank the top selection criteria of project delivery system. From the result of RII value on selection criteria of PDM, Respondents ranked ??client requirement for schedule, cost and quality?? as the first, second and third respectively with RII value of 0.921, 0.876 And 0.875 ??respectively from the total 19 factor. Finally, an analytical network process (ANP) was analyzed based on 19 selection criteria??s to select appropriate project delivery methods and results DB delivery method as appropriate project delivery method with ??max results of 7.339 and Consistency ratio of 0.107 which was acceptable in case of ERA.
