dc.description.abstractThe aims of this research is to assess the situation of the access and adequacy of Potable water in Adama Town with all possible scenario used to meet water supply with demand. Adama Town Water Supply Service and Sewerage Enterprise (AWSSSE) is responsible and committed to enhance the social welfare of the population through provision of adequate and equitable accesses/ distribution of water among the residents. The provision of this valuable service could also boost in turn socio-economic development of the city. The population and water demand projection work is one of the key elements in water supply study and design process. These population figures and data collected from CSA & municipality office were used to estimate the maximum daily water demands. The issue of potable Water supply is one of the nervous challenges in Adama Town. Hence, the author has decid4ed to conduct study to investigate the access and adequacy of potable water in the town.The study was engaged both qualitative and quantitative research approaches, mixed imbedded and used concurrently. 166 residents & households?��? representatives were taken as sample respondents augmented with interviews of key informants, observations and secondary data. Sample households were randomly selected from the three sub-cites purposively based on their population number. Data analysis and presentation Qualitative data was analysed & presented through description narration. Consequently, existing water supply source for Adama City is from Awash River with a yield of around 410.94 l/s (35,505. 22 m3/d) whereas as per analysis data obtained from the thesis the required would be 1,045.02 l/s (90,289.85 m3/d). This amount covers only 40% of the water demand required. Besides, there is no alternative water source for emergencen_US
