Abstract
The pace of urbanization is rapidly accelerating in developing countries, and the Town planners require spatial and scientific criteria for policy formulation. CA-SLEUTH model are one of the strongest tools for modeling urban spatial growth, owing to their structure, simplicity, and possibility of evaluation. The objective of this study to analyze the spatiotemporal urban land use, land cover dynamics and to model using CASLEUTH the simulations, urban land use, land cover and the prediction future urban expansions based on three urban spatial growth scenarios (i.e. Aggravated, business as usual, & restricted). The current study was conducted by analyzing urban land use land cover change statistics of Adama Town for understanding the temporal urban land use, land cover dynamics for the year 1990 to 2019; The simulation and prediction of urban land use land cover were conducted using CA-SLEUTH Source Code. The outcomes of the current study are changes of urban spatial growth for three decades (1990 to 2019). Accordingly, the simulation results on the growth of urban areas with respect to its coverage inside the boundary of Adama Town reported to be Built-up area during 1990??2000 as 7.4 Sq. Km to 134.1 % and 2000?? 2010 at 41.4. sq.km, with a 139 % rat
