| dc.description.abstract | One Of The Most Common And Renewable Carbohydrate-Based Biopolymers In NatureIs Starch Which Serves As A Sustainable Binder Material (Sheikhi, 2018). Because Starch And Its Derivatives Are Readily Available, Inexpensive, And Entirely Biodegradable, They Are Frequently Utilised In The Paper Business. In This Study The Potential Of Avocado Seed Starch As A Sustainable And Cost-Effective Raw Materials For The Development Of Starch- Based Binders In The Paper Packaging Industry Was Explored And Paper Was Formulated And Tested Its Quality. The Functional Modification To Improve The Properties Of Starch Was Done By Oxidation Method Using Cuso4 As Oxidative Agent And H2o2 As Catalyst. Response Surface Methodology (Rsm) Was Used To Study The Optimum Condition For The Experiment Was Conducted Using The Central Composite Design (Ccd) Method To Study The Effect Of Three Independent Variables: Temperature, Time And Catalyst Dosage On The Degree Of Oxidation (Do). The Result Showed That The Optimum Conditions Of Do Were 60 ??C, 90 Min And 1% With Do 51.3%. The Increased As Reaction Times And Temperatures Increased, ButIt Reduced As Catalyst Dosage Increased. The Structures And Properties Of Native Starch And Oxidized Starches Were Characterized By Fourier Transform Infrared(Ft-Ir), Dsc, Thermo gravimetric (Tga) And Differential Thermal Analysis (Dtg), X-Ray Diffraction(Xrd), And Scanning Electron Microscopy (Sem). The Oxidation Reduced The Intrinsic Viscosity And Thermal Stability Of The Oxidized Starches, And Could Change The Crystalline Structures Into Amorphous States When The Do Reached 51.3%. After The Starch Was Oxidised, The Gelation Temperature Was Increased. All Of These Characteristics Supported The Idea That Native Starch Undergo Structural Change As A Result Of The Addition Of Carboxyl And Carbonyl Groups. Paper Packaging Was Formulated And Its Qualities Like Tensile Strength, Burst, Tear Strength And Porosity Was Tested. Corrugated Cardboard Was Also Produced Then Burst Strength And Crush Strength Was Tested. This Study Findings Suggests That Modified Avocado Seed Starch Could Be Used As Binder For Both Paper Production And Cardboard Production. | en_US |
