Abstract
Densification Is Critical To Implementing The Strategy Of Urbanization For Sustainability Within The Cities In Developing And Under-Developing Countries. Horizontal Densification Is A Common Type Of Urbanization In Developing And Under-Developing Countries. However, Studies Focusing On Explaining How Horizontal Densification Influence The Provision Of The Urban Green Area Is Rare, Especially In Developing Countries Such As Ethiopia. Hence, This Research Aims To Investigate The Ef Ect Of Horizontal Densification On The Urban Green Area In The Case Of Gondar City. The Data Were Collected Through A Questionnaire Survey With 195 Respondents Who Have Been Living In The Case Study Area Minimum For 5 Years And Urban Agriculture Farmers, Focus Group Discussions Were With 6 Professionals With City Green Development Of Icials, Study Area Observation, And Finally Lulu Change Of The Sub-City In Last Twenty Years. The Result Shows That Lulc Of Urban Green Area Changes To The Built Environment, Horizontal Densification The Green Area Coverage Of Arada Sub-City From 320.83 Ha(78.75%) In 2000, To 310.59 Ha (76.17%) In 2010 Then 272.52Ha (66.87 %) In 2020. The Proportion Of Built-Up Areas In 2000 Was 21.25% Of The Entire Study Area. In 2010 The Percentage Of The Built-Up Area Is 23.83% Of The Entire Area, Which Is 2.58%More Than Before. For 2020 Was 33.13% Of Area Coverage Was. The Building Density (Far) Of The Study Area Is 0.02 Far In 2000 , 0.23 In 2010 And 0.33 In 2020 It Shows The Study Area Is Under Densification From The Respondent's Point Of View, The Major Barrier That Challenge The Green Environment Through The Last Twenty Years Is 33.3% Indicated That The Main Challenge Is Lack Of Strong Protection Of Green Area In Government, 27.0% Both Improper Domestic Waste Management And Green Areas Replaced By New Buildings, At The List 12.7% Respondent Said The Land Value Increasing Is The Main Challenge For The Green Area In The City Housing Is A Problem For City Residents, As Housing Prices In Cities Can Be Very High, And Usually Higher Than In Rural Areas, And The Residents' Incomes Are Typically Very Low. The Researcher Suggest To Develop Highly Functional Green Space Under Compact
