Abstract

Infrastructure Asset Management Stands As A Vital Cornerstone Within The Operational Framework Of Any Thriving Enterprise, Demanding Meticulous Planning And Execution To Preserve The Durability And Operational Efficiency Of The Organization's Assets. The Primary Aim Of This Study Revolves Around Evaluating The Efficacy Of Open-Source Geographic Information System (GIS) Solutions In Enhancing Infrastructure Inventory And Asset Management Within Adama City. The Research Methodology Employed Encompasses Indicator Selection, Requirements Analysis, Spatial Database Design, And The Development Of Web Mapping Applications. Data Sources Utilized Comprise Asset Management Plan (AMP) Reports, Existing Geo Databases, Infrastructure And Utility Data. Field Data Collection Was Facilitated Through The Utilization Of Q Field, A Mobile Data Collection Application Seamlessly Integrated With QGIS Tailored For Android Devices. Furthermore, The Adoption Of Open Data Kit (ODK), A Versatile Suite Of Open-Source Tools Designed To Assist Organizations In Crafting, Deploying, And Managing Mobile Data Collection Solutions Effectively, Was Advocated. The Research Delved Into An Assessment Of Adama City's Infrastructure Asset Management System, Focusing On Road Condition Evaluations, Information System Analyses, And The Development Of Logical And Physical Database Models For Infrastructure Asset Management Alongside The Creation And Testing Of Web Mapping Applications Using The QGIS2 Web Plugin. This Application Empowered Users To Interact With Infrastructure Data Via A User-Friendly Web-Based Interface. Ultimately, The Research Culminated In The Establishment Of A GIS-Based Asset Management Database And A Web GIS-Based Infrastructure Asset Management System As Tangible Outcomes. The Study Concludes By Emphasizing The Necessity Of Conducting A Comprehensive Assessment To Bolster Understanding Regarding Adama City's Asset Management Framework.
