| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to assess the implementation of cooperative learning. The study area was Grade 9 Homa Secondary School which is found in Oromia Region, Western Wollega Zone. To this end the descriptive research design was used in this study. The participants of the study were 3 English teachers who were selected by using availability sampling and 80 Homa secondary school participants were selected using systematic sampling technique from 320 students. The instruments used to collect data were questionnaire, interview and observation. The findings of the study showed that the majority of the respondents explained that there was improper implementation of cooperative learning in EFL class. Finally recommendations were forwarded based on the major findings of the study in order to promote the implementation of cooperative language learning for EFL teachers to commit themselves on the organization of cooperative learning group and to utilize various cooperative learning techniques. Besides this, suggestions were provided for school supervisors, woreda educational officials, and other concerned bodies to facilitate classroom environment. In addition to this, teachers are recommended to encourage students use the techniques of cooperative learning in EFL class. Students are also suggested to be aware of the benefits of using cooperative learning techniques in EFL classroom. | en_US |
