Abstract
In determining the diffusion coefficient of lemon juice concentration we took temperature of the room at 27 ℃ and remain a constant throughout the experiment. The monochromatic light of wave length 632 nm from 35 mW He-Ne laser released to pass through two biconcave lenses of
focal length 15 cm and 5cm respectively to expand the light from the laser. The light that passes
through the sample and travels through first grating and by second grating the light were formed
a moiré on the screen .There by a concave lens of focal length 15 cm moiré fringes formed on the
screen made larger. The relative positions of adjacent fringes from vertical axis were measured.
Then the photographs of the fringes on the screen were taken by using digital camera. The
diffusion coefficient of concentration of lemon juice was computed based on Fick’s law of
diffusion. The determined values obtained as the result of fringe shift from vertical axis. The
result revealed that the diffusion coefficient of lemon juice concentration ranges from 2.45 x 10 to 6.31 x 10 . The average value of the diffusion coefficient of lemon juice concentration obtained due to moiré fringe shift is 4.48 x.10 . In validating the result the error analysis technique has been employed. Thus the average error calculated is 1.19 %. This implies that the result has a god agreement with that stated in the literature review. [1]
