dc.description.abstractIt is critical to recognize urbanization trends and to be prepared to deal with the effects of urbanization on land, air, and water. Street and streetscape are highly affected by this phenomenon and have impact on livability of streetscapes. As a fast-growing town, Hosanna doesn?�?t have a planned streetscape at all and the existing streets are also inaccessible, making livability for both pedestrians and vehicles problematic. Hence the main objective of this research was to understand the streetscapes of Hosanna town for better urban livability by developing effective and appropriate strategies. To achieve the objectives of the research both qualitative and quantitative or a mixed approach was used as a research method to deeply understand user?�?s perception of streetscape for its livability. The results showed that the current characteristics and condition of the streetscape lacks the majority of facilities and lacks character and Pedestrian level of service result in two surveyed areas resulting 33.93 ped/min/m and 65.63 ped/min/m putting the sidewalks level of service in D and level of service in E which implies there is insufficient space for users in the existing sidewalks. In another hand the study identified that problems perceived by main pedestrians andvehicular drivers affected their livability.
