Street Is The Basic Unit Of Urban Space Through Which People Experience A City. The Street Network Is A Generator Of Urban Form; The Best-Connected Street Network Tends To Support Specific Forms Of Land-Use With High Population Density. Adama City Is Expanding Rapidly However; Theexisting Road Network Is Inadequate To Serve The Newly Created Districts Which Are Creating Segregated Neighborhoods With A Risk Of Security. The Research Aims To Characterize The Street Network Of Adama City And Determine How It Affects The City's Vitality Using Space Syntax, Using A Set Of Syntactic Variables Like Integration, Choice, Connectivity, And Control. Pedestrian Movement Survey Was Conducted In Selected Areas In Order To Measure How Urban Space Networks And Land-Use Of The Area Interact With Pedestrian Movement. Depthmapx Was Used To Conduct The Analysis. The Results Of The Analysis Show That Adama Is Highly Integrated At The Center, Which Indicates The Core Of The City Is More Vital And Attracts People. 21.46 Percent Of The City's Total Street Segments Are Integrated, While 11.5 Percent Are Segregated. The Streets With The Highest Choice-Value Highlight The Roadways With The Most Mobility. The Result Of Street Connectivity Shows Streets In The Center Of The City Have A Comparatively Large Number Of Connections. Streets With High Control Value Highlight A Segment Which Highly Controls Access Toadjacent Space And Attract Pedestrians. Streets With High Integration, Choice, Connectivity, And Control Values Collectively Present The Vital Streets Of The City. They Are Concentrated At The Center Of The City And Cover 21.54% Of The Total Street Segments. To Increase The Vitality Of The City As A Whole And To Curb Antisocial Behavior Urgent Improvement Is Required In Segregated Areas. Prioritizing Integrated Roadways For Improvement And Proposing A Diversified Land Use Will Also Ensure The City??S Vitality.en_US
