Abstract

Very Recently, Sewage Sludge Based Ceramsite Have Been Extensively Used As Low Cost Adsorbentsin Wastewater Treatment. However, Sewage Sludge Based Ceramsite Usually Has Poor Expansion Performance And Small Specific Surface Area If Only Obtained From Sewage Sludge. This Is Beside Of Sewage Sludge Has Low Silica And Alumina Contents To Ceramsite Preparation. Therefore, In This Study Ceramsite Prepared From Sewage Sludge And Auxiliary Materials, Bagasse Fly Ash And Bentonite Was Utilized As Adsorbent To Improve Its Adsorption Efficiency Towards Removal Of Methylene Blue Dye From Aqueous Solution. The Ceramsite Was Prepared Under The Optimal Synthetic Conditions (Sewage Sludge: Bagasse Ash: Bentonite Proportion Was 40:30:40, Preheating Temperature Of 250???C, Preheating Time Of 20 Min, Sintering Temperature Of 600???C, And Sintering Time Of 30min). The Prepared Ceramsite Were Used For The Removal Of Methylene Blue From Aqueous Solution By Adsorption Mechanism. The Physico-Chemical And The Rmalcharacteristic Of The Prepared Ceramsite Before And After Adsorption Was Characterized By Uv/Vis, Tga, Ft-Ir, Xrd And Sem Analysis. During Adsorption Study Effects Of The Contact Time, Adsorbent Dose, Ph, And Initial Dye Concentration On The Adsorption Capacity Of The Ceramsite Were Studied. The Kinetics And Adsorption Isotherm Were Also Studied. The Results Showed That The Adsorption Capacity Increased By Increasing The Ph Of The Solution, Adsorbent Dose And Contact Time, Reached Maximum At Ph 8, Adsorbent Dose Of 0.5g, Contact Time Of 90minand Initial Dye Concentration Of 10(Mg/L). Using Optimum Parameters; Isotherm And Kinetics Of The Adsorption Process Was Analyzed Using Different Model. The Result Showed That Isotherm Model Of The Process Fitted Well The Freundlich Adsorption Isotherm Model And Kinetics Of Adsorption Is Well Defined By The Pseudo-Second-Order. The Maximum Adsorption Was Found To Be 9.884 (Mg/G) And The Efficiency Of Ceramsite Prepared From Sewage Sludge, Bagasse Ash And Bentonite To Remove Mb Dye From Aqueous Solution At Optimized Condition Was 99.8 %. The Result Clearly Indicated The Ceramsite Prepared From Sewage Sludge, Sugarcane Fly Ash Andbentonite At Optimized Condition Can Be Utilized To Effectively Remove Mb Dye From Aqueous On.
